My name is Justin Marks, owner of Giving Tree Lawn Care, LLC. I’m a father of four, and this business was built around one priority: family.
I started Giving Tree Lawn Care in July 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, after leaving my regular job so I could be home while my son attended school remotely. Self-employment allowed me to earn a living while being present for what matters most—being a dad.
Today, that flexibility remains essential. My family’s needs may require more of my time than they used to. I’m grateful Giving Tree allows me to put my children first while continuing to serve our customers.
I’m also fortunate to have trusted people working alongside me. Jason has been in the lawn business with me for 16 years and knows our customers and properties extremely well. Mike, a friend for more than 20 years, helps us on Saturdays, providing additional support while helping us maintain a healthy work-family balance.
Why We Do This
Giving Tree has never been about becoming Oklahoma City’s biggest lawn company. We do this because we genuinely enjoy the work.
There is something rewarding about arriving at a property, putting in an honest day’s work, and leaving it more beautiful than we found it. We also value the relationships we’ve built with kind, positive, and appreciative customers.
Affordability, reliability, and peace of mind are at the heart of our business.
We currently care for approximately 50 properties and are excited to welcome new customers who appreciate what we do and what Giving Tree represents. We’re looking for kind, like-minded customers who value affordability, reliability, quality work, and a family-centered approach—and who would like to become part of our growing lawn-care family. Some of our customers have been with us for more than 10 years, and those lasting relationships mean a great deal to us.
A Different Kind of Lawn-Care Model
Our lawn-care business uses a year-round service model designed to make property maintenance predictable and manageable.
Customers may make one annual payment on November 1 for the following year, or choose monthly payments due on the 1st of each month.
This structure helps keep professional lawn care affordable while providing dependable service throughout the year.
Our Next Chapter: Christmas Lights
Our primary area of growth will be professional Christmas light installation and takedown.
Rather than dramatically expanding our lawn routes, we want to continue serving our existing customers while thoughtfully welcoming new customers who share our values. At the same time, we plan to grow our Christmas lighting service. This allows us to build another service we enjoy while protecting something important to everyone on our team: time with our families.
The Giving Tree Philosophy
The name Giving Tree Lawn Care was inspired by The Giving Tree, Shel Silverstein’s classic 1964 book.
For years, I’ve told Jason something I still believe:
A kind customer is worth more than any amount of money.
We want our business built around mutual respect, reliability, gratitude, and work we’re proud to put our name on. Business should improve our lives—not consume them—and working with us should be a positive experience for our customers, too.
We’re grateful that people trust us with their homes, properties, and businesses. We’ll continue earning that trust by showing up, working hard, treating people well, and leaving properties better than we found them.
